Changing Your Nissan Tires

So, how to change a tire on your Nissan vehicle? First, you’ll need the right tools: a jack, lug wrench, spare tire or new tire(s), and your owner’s manual. Replacing the tires on your vehicle is a straightforward process:

  1. If you’re on the side of the road near Omaha, move to a safe place and turn on your hazard lights.
  2. Wherever you are, apply the parking brake and wheel wedges under the other tires.
  3. Remove the hubcap, or wheel cover, from your tire, then loosen the lug nuts.
  4. Use the jack to raise your vehicle and remove the lug nuts.
  5. Remove the current tire and mount your spare or new tire.
  6. Tighten the lug nuts, then lower your vehicle back to the ground.

How Often to Change Car Tires?

It’s been one of the most common questions our Council Bluffs service technicians have received. Wondering how often to change car tires? It depends on how often you rotate tires and how well-made they are. Remember to check your tire pressure and tread just to be safe. If your tread wear is too significant, you’ll need new tires. To ensure the tires last as long as possible, it’s important to schedule a tire rotation when you’re getting your oil changed

How to Put Air in Your Tires

Perhaps it’s not time to change your tires just yet, and you’re wondering how to put air in your tires. If you don’t have your air pump, or you’re driving in Bellevue, you can stop at any gas station and use their air pump. Here’s how to put air in your cars:

  • Park your vehicle near the air dispenser and make sure the hose can reach each tire.
  • Remove the cap on the tire valve of the first tire.
  • Check the air pressure in the tire by using your tire gauge. It’s helpful to do this as your resident, even if you’re heading to a local gas station to fill up your tires because tires heat up when you drive and cause the air inside to expand. This often leads to a false reading.
  • Use the air hose to add small amounts of air in short bursts while checking your tire gauge each time.

Remember to keep an eye on the tire gauge until you hit the right amount of pressure as it can be impossible to get it right the first time!
